There’s nothing quite like the sugary goodness of a Starbucks Frappuccino. The popular coffee, whipped cream, syrupy Starbucks treat never fails to satisfy a sweet tooth. Plus, the possibilities of Frappuccino options are truly endless with such a variety of Frappuccino secret menu drinks.
However, when it comes to certain bottled Starbucks Frappuccino drinks, you may need to take another look in your fridge. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently announced a recall of more than 300,000 vanilla Frappuccino chilled coffee drinks on Jan. 28.
Additionally, PepsiCo Inc., the manufacturer of the Frappuccino bottles, issued a voluntary recall of the products because of the presence of a “foreign object” found in the drinks. Here’s everything you need to know about the recall.
Why Was the Starbucks Product Recall Issued?
The recall, affecting more than 300,000 bottled Starbucks drinks and 25,000 cases, is due to the presence of shards of glass in the drinks. Classified as a Class II recall, the presence of glass in the product, “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.” However, the product is unlikely to cause any severe injuries or death.
How Do I Know If I Have One of These Products?
While the affected 13.7 fluid-ounce products are not sold in Starbucks locations, they can be found at big chain stores nationwide like Target, Walmart, Amazon and Safeway. There are also two key components to identifying if you have an affected product.
First, the product will have a marking of the following UPC code:
Next, the products will contain any of the following expiration dates:
- March 8, 2023
- May 29, 2023
- June 4, 2023
- June 1o, 2023
If I Have One of These Products, What Should I Do Next?
Although Starbucks is currently in the process of removing the bottles from the marketplace, if you do happen to have one of these products, they should be disposed of. The FDA also suggests that anyone with comments or questions call 1-800-211-8307.
