Hot Fruit Compote


  • 1 can (16-oz) sliced peaches, drained
  • 1 can (16-oz) pear halves, drained, chopped
  • 1 can (16-oz) purple plums, drained, pitted
  • 1 can (20-oz) pineapple chunks, drained
  • 1 jar (6-oz) maraschino cherries, drained
  • 2 Bananas, sliced
  • 3/4 cup Brown sugar
  • cup Butter or margarine
  • 1 can (16-oz) applesauce
  • 3 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup Chopped pecans


  1. Combine first six ingredients in 13x9x2-inch casserole. Set aside. Combine sugar, butter & applesauce in saucepan & heat thoroughly, stirring occasionally. Spoon over fruit. Sprinkle with brown sugar & pecans. Bake at 300 for 1 hour. Serve hot. (May be prepared ahead & frozen. To serve, thaw overnight in refrigerator.)
